Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician/Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the service department within the dealership. Their job is to uphold the health and safety of a building’s occupants by ensuring proper sanitation and a clean work environment. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)

• Cleans the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls
• Shampooing and or vacuuming rugs and carpets, using equipment, commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners
• Collecting and taking out trash and recycling
• Paint and clean up walls as needed
• Sanitizing restroom facilities
• Ordering cleaning supplies as needed and maintaining a thorough inventory
• Be familiar with SDS location and information.  Must wear and/or use all provided safety/protective items.
• Notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or unsafe conditions.
• Coordinates, participates in, and/or attends committees and meetings as assigned or as appropriate.
• Adheres to dealership policies and procedures set forth by dealership management and manufacturer specifications.
• Assist Service and Reconditioning department with transporting customer & company vehicles on site.
• Assist with snow & ice removal in parking lot and foot traffic areas.
• Assist with landscaping during mowing seasons, spring, summer and fall where applicable.
• Assist Automotive reconditioning department with reconditioning of customer and company cars.

Required Experience and Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent. 

Additional Requirements: 

• Valid Driver License.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

• Commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
• Will stand and move throughout the dealership facility (lot, showroom, service department, offices) for most of the shift.

Physical Exertion:

• Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 70 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Moderate exertion can involve sitting, walking and/or standing most of the time.

Environmental Conditions:

• Must be able to work in all types of inclement weather outdoors and work indoors.
• Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.

Hazards and Safety Precautions:

• Hazards: Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
• Safety Precautions: Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.
