MECHATRONICS ENGINEER / ROBOT TECHNICIAN 


Department: MAC
Reports to:  Senior Engineering and Systems Manager
Location: Wixom, MI, On-site

Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary range: $75k - $95k salary based on experience

Travel requirement: 30-60% - Must be able to travel freely domestically and internationally 

 

Role Summary

As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, commission, and support of advanced automation systems through integration of controls, robotics, and mechanical systems utilizing Magswitch tools. This role requires hands-on engineering, strong troubleshooting skills, and direct customer engagement in demanding production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates programs and supports robotic systems including Kawasaki, Fanuc, KUKA, UR, and ABB
  • Designs, documents, and supports industrial control architectures including DeviceNet, Rockwell Ethernet/IP and Siemens Profinet
  • Programs and troubleshoots Allen-Bradley PLC systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues during system startup and production support
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver complete automation solutions
  • Support customer installations, startups, and validations at domestic and international sites
  • Travel 30–60% to support new customer projects, commissioning activities, and troubleshooting

Required Qualifications

  • Must have hands-on robotics programming experience 
  • Ability to create robot programs and troubleshoot communications 
  • Experience working onsite in manufacturing facility environments
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills
  • Deep knowledge of industrial control, architecture and networking
  • Proven hands-on experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and network layout drawings
  • Experience programming at least one major industrial robot platform; multi-brand experience preferred
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure
  • Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong collaboration, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Multiple robot brands experience 
  • Three years of professional experience in manufacturing automation, robotics, or industrial equipment
  • SolidWorks 3D CAD user experience

In accordance with Colorado law, the salary range disclosed for this role represents a good-faith estimate of the base compensation. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
