What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Clerk position at Magruder Hospital?
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to support daily purchasing operations, ensure accurate distribution of supplies, and maintain smooth inventory flow across the hospital. This role plays a key part in keeping departments stocked, resolving delivery issues, and supporting efficient supply chain operations.
What You’ll Do
Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Receive, check in, and verify pricing for incoming shipments
- Create purchase orders and place supply orders, including credit card purchases
- Maintain accurate internal inventory and stock storerooms
- Compare purchase orders to daily reports and correct discrepancies
Distribution & Logistics
- Package and ship outgoing items
• Deliver supplies to departments and off-site clinics • Perform daily physical receipt and issue of supplies
- Enter distributions and receipts into the system each day
Vendor & Department Support
- Contact vendors for pricing, availability, and issue resolution
- Investigate delivery issues such as incorrect items or shortages
- Maintain forms catalog and support department supply needs
- Collaborate closely with the Accounting Department
Operations & Compliance
- Maintain clean, organized office and stockroom spaces
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Follow Joint Commission, HIPAA, and hospital policies
- Uphold confidentiality of patient, customer, and organizational information
