What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trailer Fabricator position at Magnum LTD (ND)?
Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
The Trailer Fabricator is responsible for repairing and maintaining trailers, ensuring compliance with design specifications and structural integrity in accordance with DOT requirements and industry standards.
- Repair and rewire trailer electrical systems; perform welding and fabrication on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel as needed.
- Diagnose issues, troubleshoot defects, and recommend or perform necessary repairs based on driver reports or routine checks.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on all makes and models of trailers.
- Follow all shop safety standards and company policies when performing maintenance, handling tools, and working with chemicals.
- Prepare and organize materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and positioning components.
- Use computer systems to log work orders, process documentation, and maintain service records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including proper tool and equipment management.
- Communicate effectively in English with team members and supervisors.
- Work collaboratively to keep Magnum's equipment safe, reliable, and road-ready.
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Seeking an individual who has:
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Technical knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software used to diagnose vehicle issues.
- A solid grasp of local, state, and federal DOT laws, policies, and procedures for protecting people, data, property, and institutions.
- Familiarity with transportation principles and methods for moving goods by road, including the relative costs and benefits.
- Time management skills for self and others.
- The ability to communicate with other tractor shop employees and supervisors to rectify problems such as missing parts and time constraints.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Diesel Engine Specialist or related degree from a secondary institution is preferred but not necessary.
- 2 years of experience in trailer fabrication is required.
