What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Freight Handler/Forklift Operator position at Magnum LTD (ND)?
Monday - Friday, 4:00 AM - 9:30 AM
The Freight Handler is responsible for the timely and accurate loading and unloading of semi-trailers.
- Unload freight from incoming semi-trailers on the receiving side of the dock.
- Reload the manifest and match the product in trailers to the specified delivery locations.
- Inspect freight for damage.
- Enter the necessary data into the computer.
- Reload freight into the appropriate trailer at the loading dock utilizing forklifts and/or handloading.
- Maintain a clean environment, including removing broken pallets, sweeping inside trailers, keeping the dock area clean, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Previous forklift experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of general warehouse processes and procedures.
- A high level of interpersonal skills to contribute to the team environment.
- Attention to detail and skills to problem solve, verify, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to multitask, establish priorities, and meet deadlines in a rapid-paced environment.
- Ability to be self-motivated, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test as part of our commitment to a safe and drug-free workplace.
- Ability to fluently read, speak, and write English to complete necessary paperwork and communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED anda valid driver’s license (non-CDL).
Physical Demands:
- Employees will work in a well-lit warehouse environment with loading docks on both sides and concrete floors. They will be exposed to noise and changes in temperature, which can be down to around 45 degrees, depending on the time of year.
- Tools, machines, and equipment utilized included propane-powered and sit-down-style forklifts, pallet jacks, computers to key in data, and handheld scanners.
- Amount of each day spent: Standing/Walking: 50%, Sitting: 50%, Working Inside: 90%, Working Outside: 10%.
- Must have a full range of motion and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
