Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment. This includes functions such as filling, labeling, and packing products. The role ensures product quality, efficient production flow, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Maintenance
- Set up, start, operate, change over, and shut down machinery
- Perform adjustments to ensure proper operation
- Conduct routine daily and weekly preventative maintenance
- Document malfunctions and report issues to the supervisor
Production & Quality Control
- Monitor product quality throughout production runs, including:
- Packaging quality
- Weights and counts
- Ensure all finished products meet company standards
- Accurately complete all required quality and production documentation
Material Handling & Inventory
- Mark materials with identifying information
- Track and record materials received and distributed
- Organize and stage materials for production use
Team Coordination
- Support team members to meet daily production goals
- Collaborate across departments to improve efficiency and performance
General Duties
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a machine operator (including setup, operation, and troubleshooting)
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with computers and barcode scanners
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Match part numbers and lot numbers
- Legible penmanship
- Ability to manage time and stay productive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic math skills, including: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, working with fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages, interpreting basic charts or graphs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs
- Ability to climb a 5ft ladder
- Ability to use hands and arms for handling and reaching
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment
- Non-climate-controlled environment (seasonal temperature changes)
- Moderate noise levels

Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
