Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Operations Manager to oversee and manage our tax operations function. This leadership role is responsible for managing the preparation and review of complex tax returns, overseeing client relationships, and driving operational excellence across the tax practice.
The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of progressive experience in tax and accounting, along with demonstrated leadership capabilities. This individual will oversee workflow management, ensure compliance, and continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the preparation and review of business and nonprofit tax returns, including but not limited to 1120S, 1120, 1065 Partnerships, and 990.
- Oversee tax workflow, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate filings. Manage quality control processes to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Manage client relationships as a senior point of contact for complex tax matters, ensuring clear and responsive communication while providing strategic tax planning and advisory services.
- Oversee the utilization and optimization of tax software and internal systems (experience with Drake Tax Software is a plus).
- Monitor tax regulations and oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws
- Demonstrate adaptability and self-motivation in a hybrid work setting, balancing remote work with onsite collaboration as needed. Some travel may be required.
- Attend company events as required, contributing to the collaborative culture and engagement of Magnolia Tax Services
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of tax and accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including leadership or management experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong experience managing and reviewing business and nonprofit tax returns (1120S, 1120, 1065, 990).
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and detail in all aspects of tax preparation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships.
- Values Alignment: Demonstrated commitment to personal development, discipline, and achieving impactful results, in line with our RIPE values.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, with the ability to manage time effectively and self-motivate in a remote setting. managing teams in a hybrid work environment.
- Certification: EA or CPA preferred but not required.
