Role Description The Surveyor is a full-time, hybrid role based in Morgantown, WV, with some work-from-home flexibility for tasks such as data processing, drafting, and reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting field surveys, operating surveying instruments, collecting and verifying measurements, and documenting site conditions. The role involves preparing survey drawings and reports, collaborating with project managers and office staff, and ensuring all work complies with applicable standards and regulations. The Surveyor will coordinate with clients and project stakeholders as needed, maintain equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement of workflows and safety practices.
Qualifications
- Experience with land surveying practices, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
- Proficiency in using modern surveying equipment such as total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Ability to work with survey and CAD software for data processing, drafting, and mapping (e.g., AutoCAD, Carlson SurvCAD, or similar tools).
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical skills, and ability to interpret plans, plats, and legal descriptions.
- Capability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions, including lifting equipment and navigating uneven terrain.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with office staff, field crews, and clients.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record suitable for operating company vehicles.
- Relevant education or training in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or a related field; licensure or progress toward licensure as a Professional Surveyor is a plus.
