What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Supervisor position at MAGNOLIA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER?
POSITION SUMMARY: The position is responsible for the overall management of the Admission services. Responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and control of all functions of the services. Coordinates quality activities, cost containment, staffing, staff education, expansion of services and admission services. Responsible for working with other managers to assure the coordination of services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Follows hospital policies and procedures in terms of hiring, firing, evaluating, etc. regarding Human Resources activities for the admission services.
2. Develops and maintains admission services policies, procedures, and guidelines.
3. Assures that the admission services are adequately staffed with qualified and competent staff.
4. Provides leadership and in-service education as required for the admission services.
5. Educates other staff concerning admission services processes.
6. Assures that all reports and other documentation required are completed in a timely manner.
7. Track and trend admissions error and registration accuracy.
8. Coordinates the quality improvement efforts of the admission services and with the Business Office to assure compliance with third party payors and regulations.
9. Works with other managers to assure the coordination of services.
10. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in completing their work.
11. Assists with Financial Counseling and Pre-Clearance functions as needed.
12. Registers patients if needed and serves as backup for Admission Clerks, including Emergency Room Admitting Clerks.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Revenue Cycle and Administration.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Graduate or GED; Associate degree is a plus
Qualifications: At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Hospital and Clinic Registration / Admitting experience preferred.
Intermediate experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 and ICD-10 is a plus.
Knowledge of medical insurances (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and Managed Care), EMTALA regulations, admitting and billing processes
Computer knowledge of the admission and collection systems.
- Good organizational, reading and writing skills are required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Experience working with in CPSI and RCM is a plus.
- Must be assertive and possess great leadership skills.
- Must be dependable and on time.
