Magnolia 9 Transport is based out of Gulfport, MS and is looking for a Dispatch Coordinator for our Operations department. A person that has good communication skills, works well in a fast paced environment, and has a strong attention to detail. This role is vital to retaining our drivers, customers, and keeping the fleet moving. This position has career growth and learning opportunities. Monday -Friday 7:00a-4:00pm
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Operations Manager in all aspects of a drivers day by communicating with drivers and shippers/receivers to schedule driver pickup and deliveries, taking into account the delivery deadline, driver HOS, driver home time, equipment availability, and other outside factors such as weather, traffic, etc.
- Monitor the movement of trucks and freight from pickup to delivery by communicating with drivers throughout the trip to assess progress and address any issues or problems that may arise.
- Monitor, prioritize and resolve any issues that may affect scheduled times for pickup or delivery caused by mechanical problems with trucks, delays due to traffic or weather challenges, HOS issues or changes requested by the customer regarding times or locations.
- Communicate status of each delivery in progress at the start and completion of each work shift.
- Notify drivers when required paperwork is missing, when their equipment is scheduled for preventive maintenance, etc.
- Other duties as specified.
Job Requirements:
- High school Diploma or GED with previous office experience.
- Strong team player with the ability to stay calm and function in a high call volume, fast paced and sometimes challenging environment.
- Preferred computer skills in MS Outlook and Excel. Experience with Samsara preferred.
- Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to calm an upset driver and relate to drivers on a personal level.
- Strong listening skills with the ability to differentiate driver issues and decipher problems vs. complaints.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem resolution skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Ability to self-manage, multi-task, organize and prioritize to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to think on one's feet and make decisions quickly.
- Ability to determine what is the single most important task at any given moment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Willingness to occasionally take calls after hour.
- This position is an in Office position

Preferred:
- Knowledge of FMCSA Rules and Regulations pertaining to commercial drivers and contract truck load carriers including solid understanding of HOS rules.
