 About the role : We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of electric motor and battery module systems for advanced electrified powertrains. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, thermal management, and structural analysis, with a focus on electric propulsion systems.

 Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design and analysis of electric propulsion components including electric motors, battery modules and their associated sub-assemblies and components
• Develop, optimize and validate electric motor assemblies and energy storage system sub-assemblies for performance, safety, and reliability.
• Ownership of development packages, and delivery of these on time and on budget
• Collaborate with other departments through hardware design, validation, delivery and operation (Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Test)
• Conduct structural and thermal simulations using FEA and CFD tools to validate designs.
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation of mechanical systems.
• Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement activities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7 years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and PDM systems
• Strong understanding of GD&T: ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y14.100-2013.
• Experience with FEA and CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus).

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or renewable energy sectors.
• Knowledge of systems engineering and model-based design.
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Aviation propulsion systems experience is advantageous

 Location: Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.

 Salary Range: $160k-$210k
