Immediate opening for Medical Laboratory Technician support Fort Bliss, TX.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Certificate or associate degree.
- Education: Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
- Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may not request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category.
- Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last two years working as a full-time laboratory technician in a clinic, hospital, blood bank, or stand-alone laboratory.
- Certification: Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT.
- Additional Certification: Contract workers shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or other approved certifying body emblem. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government
Core Duties:
Duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follow MTF laboratory procedures and guidelines for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of service member test results.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
- Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and shall either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or medical director.
- Document laboratory procedures and tests conducted. Maintain documentation of all tests
- /actions provided in accordance with applicable directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy.
- Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete.
- Shall comply with all health requirements, immunizations, and vaccinations.
- Shall complete all DoD, DHA, and MTF-specified training requirements.
- Shall personally record hours worked in the Defense Medical Human Resources System - internet (DMHRSi) system, or other system, as required by the MTF.
