Position Overview:  As a Quality Engineer II, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance protocols and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that production quality standards meet AS9100 requirements. This role requires hands-on experience in quality engineering, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards, including coordinating and leading internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate all efforts related to the internal auditing program. This includes developing the internal auditing schedule, training internal auditors, and validating their competencies. 
  • Document all non-conformances as it relates to internal audits and development countermeasures to prevent recurrences. 
  • Process Control & Improvement:
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for complex quality issues, utilizing methodologies like 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Whys.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality,  efficiency, and consistency.
  • Establish and refine control plans and quality metrics to monitor and enhance process performance.
  • Investigate and analyze quality issues, customer complaints, and nonconformances to identify root causes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to meet company goals and customer requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures to support and maintain   AS9100 compliance.
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership:
  •  Manage, develop, and drive improvements with external providers through data analysis and other related activities (i.e., scorecards, audits, etc).
  • Participate in complex root cause analyses and corrective actions for non-conformances, implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate inspections and support the production team with technical guidance on quality control.
  • Utilize data analytics to proactively identify trends, track quality metrics, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including non-conformance reports       (NCRs), corrective action reports (CARs), and quality control plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of quality activities and report key metrics to senior management.
  • Support quality training initiatives for production and inspection teams to foster a quality-focused culture.

Requirements

Job Requirements and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

• 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.

• In-depth knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and Nadcap standards.

• Proven experience with quality tools and methodologies (e.g., A3, 5 WHY’s SPC, DMAIC, 8D).

• Proficiency in quality management software and systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

• This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR. 


Preferred Skills:

• Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ, CQE, Internal Audit Certification).

• Familiarity with aerospace finishing processes such as anodizing, chemfilm, primer, and/or  topcoat application.


Reports To: The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
