    • Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight, pulse, respiration).
    • Assist patients with physical exams and procedures under the direction of the physician or healthcare provider.
    • Provide basic nursing care such as wound care, dressing changes, and assisting with minor medical procedures.
    • Administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, injections) and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
    • Collect laboratory specimens (e.g., blood, urine, swabs) for testing, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
  2. Patient Education:

    • Educate patients on their conditions, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care measures.
    • Provide instructions for home care and post-treatment care, including the use of medical equipment, wound care, and medication management.
    • Answer patient questions and concerns, offering reassurance and guidance in a calm and empathetic manner.
  3. Administrative Support:

    • Assist in maintaining patient records, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA).
    • Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and assist in coordinating care between different healthcare providers.
    • Handle basic office tasks, such as answering phones, managing patient flow, and verifying insurance information.
    • Ensure that patient charts are prepared and ready for each appointment and update patient files with vital information.
  4. Assisting with Procedures:

    • Prepare patients for routine medical procedures, such as blood draws, X-rays, EKGs, or minor surgeries.
    • Set up examination rooms and medical equipment, ensuring they are sterile and properly functioning.
    • Assist the healthcare provider during patient exams or minor surgeries by providing instruments, supplies, or other necessary support.
  5. Infection Control and Safety:

    • Follow strict infection control procedures, including sterilization of medical instruments and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in the clinic or office.
    • Monitor patients for any signs of infection or complications following a procedure or treatment.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and the healthcare team regarding treatment plans and patient status.
    • Report any changes in patient conditions or concerns to the supervising physician or registered nurse promptly.
  7. Emergency Response:

    • Be prepared to handle medical emergencies in the outpatient setting, including performing CPR, administering first aid, or stabilizing patients until further medical help arrives.
    • Respond quickly and appropriately to sudden changes in patient conditions, ensuring patient safety at all times.
