Summary of Responsibilities

To provide quality support to all other departments to ensure customer satisfaction, schedules and projects are completed timely.
Overall management of the Quality Department; responsible and accountable for all three shifts of Quality Assurance activities. Provide supervision in a safe and productive manner to achieve departmental and company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·       Manage all facility activities and personnel reporting to this position.

·       Act as primary liaison between CCMi Systems and all customers.

·       Understand and stay current to carry out customer expectations including process data, material certification, documentation, and other requirements as specified.

·       Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and associates; Maintain positive employee relations; Listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours.

·       Follow the principles of the Magna Employee Charter.

·       Address unsafe performance of team members either through training or progressive discipline as appropriate

·       Ensure all Quality Department team members attend required safety and shift communication on a daily and weekly basis to ensure all safety related training and communication is received in a timely manner

·       Support all accident incident investigations in the plant as needed, and ensure all such investigations involving a member of the quality department are completed in full and turned into the HSE team within 24 hours of the incident

·       Ensure audits are completed for Health, Safety and Environmental.

·       Direct Quality Assurance staff to effectively monitor production quality performance.

·       Establish procedures and develop quality assurance program, including Mafact, policies, objectives and plans.

·       Actively participate and lead efforts towards using Total Quality Management tools such as Team Oriented Problem Solving, SPC, and IATF16949.

·       Maintain effective communication and coordinate with all external customers and suppliers.

·       Conduct vendor quality system surveys and assist in vendor selection; Maintain positive vendor relations and assist vendors to consistently and reliably meet CCMi’s quality requirements.

·       Maintain effective department communications through prioritized work list, plant meetings, daily Supervisor and Lead hand meetings, and weekly department meetings, including KPI reviews at department level with the team to ensure high payoff activities are on track. This should drive to the management KPI review directly for quality deliverables.

·       Maintain and continuously improve department organization and housekeeping standards.

·       Facilitate natural cross functional teams by rotating team members through all areas of plant.

·       Support new program launches.

·       Provide motivation and results-oriented environment.

·       Review all major department projects from start to finish and insure proper techniques are being used.

·       Sign all departmental purchase orders to ensure items are needed and best quality for least cost.

·       Interface with Quality vendors to ensure purchase of proper materials.

·       Utilize lessons-learned philosophy in continuous improvement activities.

·       Report on status of departmental projects as required.

·       Complete correspondence, forms and reports in Word, Excel, Access and other required programs.

·       Handle confidential information on a regular basis.

·       Conduct performance evaluations of assigned staff as specified by company goals.

·       Promote and facilitate Open Door Process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment.

·       Participate in Continual Improvement activities.

·       Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies.

·       Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

·       Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction

·       Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations

·       Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines

·       Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers and customers

·       Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches and engineering data

·       Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact

·       Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines

·       Able to work flexible and additional hours

·       Able to use computer and software as required

·       Able to travel as required

·       Able to communicate in front of an audience during training and/or meetings

·       Able to work under the pressure of meeting schedules, personnel issues, department deadlines, and multiple priorities

·       Must be able to understand written instructions

 

Education and Experience Required

·       High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       Excellent quality procedure skills

·       minimum 5 years progressively more responsible quality experience in automotive preferred

·       Honest with high integrity

·       Knowledge of automotive customer requirements

·       Knowledge of Quality processes and procedures to include SPC, GD&T, VE, APQP, DOE, etc.

 

Work Environment

·       Includes office and manufacturing plant

·       Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers

·       Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule

·       Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
