Position Summary
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct care and supervision to residents in a Residential Treatment Home (RTH) setting. This role supports individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges by promoting safety, stability, and recovery in a structured, home-like environment. The MHT works collaboratively with the clinical and administrative team to implement individualized service plans and ensure compliance with program policies and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and support to residents in daily activities, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral health situations
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, meals, and routines as needed
- Support implementation of Residential Service Plans (RSPs) and Person-Centered Service Plans (PCSPs)
- Observe, document, and report changes in resident behavior, mood, or condition
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program and regulatory standards
- Assist with medication prompting/monitoring (per program policy and training)
- Facilitate or support structured activities, groups, and skill-building exercises
- Ensure compliance with resident rights, trauma-informed care principles, and confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Participate in shift reports, team meetings, and required trainings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe residential environment
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working in a mental health, behavioral health, or substance use treatment setting
- Experience working with individuals experiencing psychiatric conditions, crisis situations, or substance withdrawal/detox preferred
- Ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with state requirements
- Ability to work in a Residential Treatment Home (RTH) setting, including weekends, evenings, and/or overnight shifts as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred)
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
