Role Description The Diesel Mechanic role is a full-time, on-site position located in Rock Springs, WY. The Diesel Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and heavy construction equipment, including trucks, loaders, and other machinery used on job sites. Daily responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, completing routine services, and documenting all work performed to meet company and safety standards. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ordering or requesting necessary parts, and collaborating with supervisors and operators to minimize equipment downtime. The Diesel Mechanic will also help maintain a safe, organized shop and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic electrical and hydraulic systems related to construction machinery.
- Ability to perform routine and preventative maintenance, including inspections, fluid changes, and component replacements.
- Solid understanding of safety practices, OSHA guidelines, and safe operation of equipment in industrial and construction environments.
- Effective communication skills for working with supervisors, equipment operators, and team members, with accurate maintenance recordkeeping.
- Ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions, lift and move heavy parts, and stand for extended periods.
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician in construction or related industries is preferred.
- Vocational or technical training in diesel technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is an advantage.
