Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled IT Systems Engineer to join our innovative technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure solutions that support our business operations. You are required to be with our team in our Amagansett, NY office weekdays from 9am to 5pm. Your expertise will drive the development of scalable, secure, and efficient systems architecture, ensuring optimal performance across diverse platforms and environments. Daily Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive system architectures utilizing best practices in solution architecture, system design, and system administration.
- Manage and optimize IT infrastructure components including workstations servers, storage solutions, virtualization platforms and various cloud services.
- Implement and maintain network security protocols including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and information security measures to safeguard organizational data.
- Develop automation scripts using Bash and PowerShell to streamline system operations and deployment processes.
- Monitor system performance using our RMM and other tools to troubleshoot issues related to operating systems (Windows/Linux/Mac), system architecture, or network connectivity promptly.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, architecture diagrams, security policies, and operational procedures aligned with IT best practices.
Required:
- Understanding of information security principles including firewall configuration, encryption standards, vulnerability assessments and compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams; proactive approach to system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- MDM technologies like Microsoft InTune.
- Hands-on networking design / build knowledge.
- Deep knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP protocols. experience configuring firewalls, VPNs, load balancers (e.g., F5 or HAProxy).
- Proven experience in systems engineering with a strong understanding of system architecture design across diverse platforms including Windows, Linux and Mac OS environments.
- Hands-on expertise with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and KVM.
- Basic people skills.
- Being able to sell solutions and knowing when to back off.
Pererred But Not Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications preferred.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), microservices architecture, and RESTful API development.
- Industry standard and verifyable certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Redhat
