What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Kennel Technician Full Time position at Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter?
The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is seeking a motivated, self-reliant, and positive team player to join our team as a Lead Kennel Technician. This is a full-time position.
We are looking for candidates who bring a strong work ethic, excellent leadership skills, and prior experience in the animal care field. The ideal candidate will be able to guide, train, and support kennel staff, maintain a high standard of animal care, and contribute to the overall efficiency of shelter operations.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Working collaboratively with two other Lead Kennel Technicians to ensure smooth daily operations
- Training new and existing Kennel Technicians
- Managing employee scheduling and publishing the weekly staff schedule
- Conducting weekly supply inventories
- Ensuring all Kennel Technicians follow Standard Operating Procedures
- Assisting with administrative tasks as needed
- Performing hands-on animal care, including cleaning kennels, litter boxes, and handling both dogs and cats
- Lifting 50 lbs on a daily basis
- Completing any other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Requirements:
- Previous experience in the animal field (MUST)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more regularly
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work one weekend day per week
- Ability to obtain euthanasia certification within 90 days of hire
