What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Claims Adjuster position at Madison Mutual Insurance Co?
Under close supervision, investigates, evaluates, and resolves routine auto property/liability claims based on coverage, appraisal, and verifiable damage. Corresponds with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, etc. to gather important information to support contested insurance claims. Prepares reports of investigation findings. May conduct field evaluations to inspect and document damage or loss.
- Associate level/2-year college degree or sufficient progress towards Bachelors/4-year level degree
- General knowledge of automobile mechanical and body repair methods
- General computer knowledge, including Word and Excel type programs
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management skills
- Experience in prioritizing, organizing, and making decisions
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Verify coverage and identify potential exposures and coverage issues
- Investigate facts surrounding claims and documents all investigations to include scene investigations, statements, diagrams, police reports, etc.
- Determine exposure and appropriate reserves
- Maintain active diary and reporting
- Review estimates and appraisals for settlement
- Manage automobile repair process and manage rental exposure
- Identify subrogation possibilities and handle salvage disposal
- Make fair and equitable claim settlements within authority and request approval from Manager for anything outside authority level
