Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to support the preparation of sterile medications in a cleanroom environment. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety through strict adherence to aseptic technique and regulatory standards, including USP <797> and <800> guidelines. The ideal candidate works well with others, provides excellent customer service, and is committed to supporting pharmacists in delivering safe and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile compounded medications (e.g., IV admixtures, syringes, TPN) under the supervision of a pharmacist
• Perform aseptic technique in ISO-classified cleanroom environments (IV hood, isolator)
• Maintain compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards
• Perform cleaning and disinfection of cleanroom and equipment
• Accurately label, package, and store compounded medications
• Maintain detailed compounding logs and documentation
• Manage inventory of sterile supplies and medications
• Perform routine quality assurance tasks (e.g., environmental monitoring, temperature logs)
• Assist with hazardous drug handling per safety protocols (if applicable)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Active Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure in Mississippi required
• Two years sterile compounding experience strongly preferred
• Certification (CPhT) preferred
• Knowledge of USP <797> / <800> standards preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to work in PPE (gown, gloves, mask, etc.) for prolonged periods
• Manual dexterity for precise compounding tasks
