Job Summary
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to support the preparation of sterile medications in a cleanroom environment. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety through strict adherence to aseptic technique and regulatory standards, including USP <797> and <800> guidelines. The ideal candidate works well with others, provides excellent customer service, and is committed to supporting pharmacists in delivering safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile compounded medications (e.g., IV admixtures, syringes, TPN) under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Perform aseptic technique in ISO-classified cleanroom environments (IV hood, isolator)
- Maintain compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards
- Perform cleaning and disinfection of cleanroom and equipment
- Accurately label, package, and store compounded medications
- Maintain detailed compounding logs and documentation
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies and medications
- Perform routine quality assurance tasks (e.g., environmental monitoring, temperature logs)
- Assist with hazardous drug handling per safety protocols (if applicable)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Active Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure in Mississippi required
- Two years sterile compounding experience strongly preferred
- Certification (CPhT) preferred
- Knowledge of USP <797> / <800> standards preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in PPE (gown, gloves, mask, etc.) for prolonged periods
- Manual dexterity for precise compounding tasks
