Position Summary
The Charge Nurse (RN) serves as the senior clinical and operational authority on-site during assigned shifts. This role leads day-to-day floor operations by coordinating staff, managing patient flow, supporting providers, enforcing professional standards, and resolving issues in real time to ensure the clinic runs smoothly from open to close.
This position requires an experienced and confident nurse with a calm but commanding presence. The ideal candidate is decisive, composed under pressure, and comfortable setting boundaries to protect patients, staff, and workflow.
The Charge Nurse partners closely with Nursing Leadership, Medical Providers, and Human Resources to identify issues early, address them directly, and maintain a consistently high-performing clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Floor Leadership & Operational Control
Serve as the primary on-site authority for clinical operations and professional conduct during assigned shifts
Manage floor flow including staffing coordination, room utilization, patient movement, and provider support
Anticipate operational challenges and resolve issues before escalation
Adjust staffing and workflows in real time based on volume, acuity, delays, and call-outs
Act as the escalation point for clinical, operational, and patient-related concerns
Staff Accountability & Performance Management
Set and enforce expectations for attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and quality of care
Address performance concerns and unprofessional behavior immediately and directly
Provide firm, fair, consistent corrective guidance in the moment
Document issues accurately and escalate patterns appropriately
Maintain a steady leadership presence during high-volume or high-stress periods
Professional Environment & Staff Protection
Maintain a respectful, safe, controlled clinical environment for staff and patients
De-escalate conflicts calmly and decisively when issues arise
Protect staff from inappropriate behavior while maintaining professionalism
Escalate serious or repeated issues to leadership and HR as needed
Clinical Support & Patient Care
Provide direct patient care as needed (assessments, injections, IV therapies, medication administration)
Support providers across multiple specialties with procedures and patient coordination
Serve as a clinical resource for complex or sensitive patient situations
Ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and accurate EMR documentation
Collaboration with Leadership & HR
Partner with Nursing Leadership and HR on staffing, scheduling, and conduct concerns
Communicate issues clearly, professionally, and consistently
Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, systems, and operational standards

QualificationsRequired
Active New Jersey RN license in good standing
Current CPR/BLS certification
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience (outpatient or multidisciplinary preferred)
Prior experience as a Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or senior clinical leader
Strong command of clinical workflows, standards, and professional conduct expectations
Availability for rotating weekend shifts
