Madison Lawn & Landscape of Sioux Falls is hiring dependable Snow Removal Sidewalk Team Members to join our winter operations team. This position is ideal for individuals seeking supplemental winter income who can accommodate weather-dependent scheduling. Team members use professional equipment to keep client properties safe and accessible throughout winter weather events. This is a physically demanding position requiring reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to work when winter weather hits.
Weather-Dependent Schedule
Team members will be contacted before forecasted snow events and must be available to work:
- 12-16 hours per shift
- Consecutive days when storms or cleanup operations continue
- Daytime or overnight, depending on storm timing
- Weekdays, weekends, and holidays as weather requires
- During and after storms until assigned properties are clear and safe
Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on snowfall. Some snow events may require multiple shifts over consecutive days.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation to and from the ML&L shop for every assigned shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours based on weather.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and teamwork.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience operating snow removal equipment.
- Experience safely driving a truck and trailer.
- Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, or outdoor labor experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate sidewalk snow removal equipment (shovels, snowblowers, SnowRators).
- Work with a team to complete designated snow removal routes.
- Perform snow removal during and after storms until all sites are cleared.
- Remain available for weather-dependent shifts lasting approximately 12 hours.
- Utilize mobile software to log and track services.
- Assist with additional snow removal services as needed.
- Work outdoors in cold, snowy, windy, and icy conditions.
- Handle the physical demands of snow removal, including heavy lifting, repetitive shoveling.
About Snow Operations
ML&L does not use a fixed snow accumulation trigger. Crews are dispatched based on current and forecasted conditions, property needs, and potential safety hazards.
During prolonged or heavy snow events, teams may service properties multiple times throughout the storm. After snowfall ends, crews continue working as needed to complete cleanup and ensure properties remain safe and accessible.
