What are the responsibilities and job description for the Showroom Sales Associate position at Madison Event Rentals?
Madison Event Rentals is looking for a friendly, detail-oriented “people person” who loves celebrations and has an interest in events and/or event planning. In this client-facing role, you’ll be a welcoming face in our showroom—answering phones, taking orders, guiding customers through styling options, and helping them turn ideas into unforgettable events. Prior experience is not required (we’ll train you!), but retail, hospitality, or event experience is a plus.
What you’ll do
- Greet walk-ins and showroom appointments; understand event needs and recommend rentals.
- Answer phones and respond to emails/social inquiries with warmth and professionalism.
- Build quotes, take orders, and process payments accurately (training provided; familiarity with rental software is a plus).
- Style and maintain showroom displays; restock samples and keep the space guest-ready.
- Coordinate with the warehouse on order details, changes, and timelines.
- Capture client preferences and notes so every handoff is seamless.
- Occasionally assist at open houses or styled shoots.
What you bring
- A genuine love for helping people and an interest in events/weddings.
- Clear, friendly communication (in person, on the phone, and in writing).
- Organized, detail-minded, and comfortable juggling multiple clients.
- Basic computer skills (Google/Microsoft suite).
- Team player with a positive attitude; willing to jump in where needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move light showroom items.
Nice to have (but not required)
- Sales, retail, hospitality, or event planning experience.
- Visual merchandising or styling instincts.
- Familiarity with event trends, color palettes, and tablescape basics.
