What are the responsibilities and job description for the Madison Elementary Girls Volleyball Coach position at Madison Elementary?
Reports to: Building Principal
General Summary: Responsible for organizing Madison Elementary's volleyball program, which includes holding tryouts, teaching basic volleyball skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, organizing practices, guiding players during games, and creating a positive, supportive environment where student-athletes can grow and have fun.
Season timing: Mid-August through the end of September (season could be extended 1 week, depending on standing in playoffs)
Essential Functions:
- Manage and coordinate their program
-workouts/conditioning/practices
-contests
- Hold a pre-season meeting with all prospective athletes
- Communicate with parents in regard to team rules and guidelines
- Attend and run an organized practice on all scheduled practice dates
- Help prepare for all home contests as needed
- Attend all scheduled contests
- Attend required meetings
- Check eligibility of all athletes before first contest and upon the completion of grading periods
- Help the athletic director determine scheduling
- Coordinate the transportation schedule for your team
- Prepare and turn in an inventory of all equipment within the program
- Understand and follow all rules as set forth by the Warsaw Community School Corporation.
- Conduct an appropriate awards program upon conclusion of the regular season
- Performs other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by WCS
Qualifications:
- Has played and/or coached volleyball previously
- Successful coaching experience
- Indiana teaching license (Desired but not required)
- Playing experience in one or more sports preferred
