We are partnering with a $10B AUM private investment firm to hire a Management Company Controller to join their growing finance organization in New York.
This is a high-impact, leadership role reporting directly to the Deputy CFO, with responsibility for overseeing the management company and corporate entities. The position offers significant visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to play a key role in building and scaling finance infrastructure within a rapidly growing platform.
The firm operates across private equity, credit, and real assets, and is known for its entrepreneurial culture and strong track record of growth.
Responsibilities
Management Company Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting and financial reporting for the management company and related entities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review U.S. GAAP financial statements and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate accounting for management fees, carried interest, GP entities, and intercompany activity
Operational Finance & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, controls, and workflows
- Drive initiatives to build scalable infrastructure to support growth
- Partner with FP&A and business leaders on budgeting and forecasting
- Support system enhancements and implementations (including ERP platforms)
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors
- Oversee annual audits and related deliverables
- Coordinate tax reporting, including K-1s and corporate filings
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
- Support hiring and build-out of the accounting function
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment
Qualifications
- 8–15 years of experience in public accounting and/or asset management, private equity, or credit
- Strong knowledge of management company accounting (fees, expenses, GP structures)
- Experience preparing financial statements under U.S. GAAP
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong Excel and systems proficiency
Preferred
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
- Prior people management experience
- Exposure to building processes, system implementations, or scaling finance functions
