BASIC FUNCTION
The Transporter/Bus Driver transports clients, staff, food, and needed items to and from the training site or on client outings/appointments.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Transport clients, staff, food and needed items to and from the training site or other designated location or outings/appointments.
2. Account for and interact appropriately with clients and staff being transported.
3. Provide assistance to clients and document required data pertaining to clients (for example: accident reports, behavior reports, etc.)
4. Perform required cleaning/maintenance duties and related tasks in an acceptable manner.
5. Follow daily work schedule or supervisor’s instructions.
6. Provide timely and safe transportation to clients and staff, as scheduled.
7. Check all vehicles to make sure they have fuel.
8. Turn in work orders for needed repairs to all vehicles.
9. Assure safety regulations are followed, seat belts fastened, wheelchairs secured, capacity of clients traveling are maintained.
10. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EXPOSURE RISK: Minimum risk for exposure to blood and body fluids during routine job duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervised by the Residential Living Director

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION
As a minimum, a High School diploma is required.
- EXPERIENCE
Must have a good driving record. Must have a valid and current commercial driver’s license (Class B. P endorsement), or a regular license (transporter) issued by the State of Mississippi.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Sit, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently throughout the workday.
2. Subject to frequent interruptions.
3. Attends ongoing educational experiences pertaining to the position and/or required for licensure/certification of the profession to keep current with trends in the field of program services as well as management principles.
4. May be subject to infectious diseases, waste, conditions, etc., including the potential exposure to AIDS and HEPATITIS B viruses.
5. Works beyond normal 8-5 working hours, weekends, holidays, other positions and various shifts.
6. Subject to falls, cuts, bruises, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the working day.
7. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
8. Generally will work in an air-conditioned, heated and ventilated building and may work outdoors

1. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
2. Role model professional behavior by performing and/or assisting other staff, supervisors, peers, consultants and direct support staff in an effective, cooperative manner, in all duties.
3. Must be of good moral character.
4. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with all consumers, personnel, residents, families, and visitors, etc.
5. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
6. Must have the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel and be willing to manage persons of various maturity and cognitive abilities.
7. Must have the ability to make independent decisions.
8. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and when representing the facility.
9. Must maintain confidentiality, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability work effectively with personnel, regional and corporate consultants, vendors, residents and support agencies.
10. Must demonstrate emotional stability.

1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
