Responsibilities
- Observe students to assess/detect health conditions and needs.
- Instruct and assist teachers and other school personnel in screening students for health needs including, but not limited to, hearing, vision, scoliosis, lice, etc.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and skill in administering medications and treatments.
- Administer first aid in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain and administer student medications as prescribed.
- Collect and maintain authorization/consent forms for student treatment/medication.
- Provide and assist with care of students, employees, and others who have suffered an injury or emergency illness.
- Demonstrate and instruct school personnel in the proper precautions for handling body fluids and related infection control and safety.
- Assure the appropriate cofidentiality of students and other clients.
- Maintain equipment and supplies and keep clinic area clean and orderly.
- Maintain records and submit reports in a timely manner.
- Collect, record, and organize health care statistics/information as needed.
- Develop and submit a budget to the Lead School Nurse and administer that budget as approved by the Board of Education.
- Maintain positive lines of communication with school personnel, students, and parents.
- Participate on committees as assigned.
- Exhibit regular, dependable, and punctual attendance.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
