Position Summary: This position is integral to the overall patient experience. Provides support for clinicians in preparation, performance and post procedure work of providing patient care. Participates in
performance improvement activities of the department and daily management of infection prevention and control activities.
Primary Functions:
1. Transporting or escorting patients to and from the Radiology Department using wheelchairs, beds, and ancillary equipment. Provides lifting assistance to technician to allow for employee and patient safety.
2. Provides clerical support for the Radiology Department to process patients and maintain clinical documentation. Answers multi-line phones. Performs data entry.
3. Ensures rooms are appropriately stocked and cleaned pre and post procedure. Sets up supplies for procedure.
4. Greets all patients, families and visitors that approach the Radiology Department window.
5. Demonstrates open and effective communication with other department staff members, health care providers, patients and families. Works cooperatively with various ancillary departments in the provision and coordination of patient care services.
6. Treats patients and families with dignity and respect. Ensures confidentiality of patient records. Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
Other Duties As Assigned: Accepts other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. BLS Certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience: Previous clerical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Basic knowledge of computers. Basic knowledge of standard office equipment. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Demonstrates flexibility, ability to multi-task and effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
