Employee serves as Section Corner and Drainage Technician for the Surveyors Office responsible for maintaining reference records pertaining to section corner monuments and records pertaining to property owner assessment for legal drains and assisting with other related duties.
Duties
Maintains cornerstone reference and benchmark reference filing system and assist public licensed surveyors and engineers with locating section corner monuments.
Researches and interprets legal descriptions, deeds, and other related documents for preparation of drainage assessments; prepares assessment rolls, transparencies of drainage map, letters to property owners, certification form and other required documents for legal drain maintenance and reconstruction hearings.
Responds to property owner complaints and questions relating to the assessment for maintenance and repair of various drains.
Attends Drainage Board meetings to provide and/or receive information related to future drainage projects.
Performs related duties as assigned but not limited to.
Job Requirements
Ability to deal with co-workers, employees of other departments, contractors, engineers, property owners, and members of the public in a courteous, effective and tactful manner.
High School diploma or GED.
DIFFICULTY OF WORK
Employee performs duties within general guidelines and exercises some discretion in selecting the most appropriate method of approach for specific tasks.
RESPONSIBILITY
Employee is responsible for the proper completion of assigned tasks within the departments guidelines and goals. Unusual problems are discussed with County Surveyor, at the discretion of the employee. Work product is reviewed for technical accuracy and conformity with departmental guidelines.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Employee maintains contact with a variety of individuals including County Surveyor, co-workers, employees of other departments, County elected and appointed officials, civil engineers, registered surveyors, and members of the public for the purpose of explaining drainage regulations and procedures and rendering service.
Reports directly to Office Manager.
Compensation And Benefits
The position is compensated at $36,000 - $40,000 and qualifies for medical, dental, vision, retirement, access to health clinics, and paid time off.
