Summary of Position
Responsible for the collection of data for assessment/reassessment of all assigned
property parcels located within the County. Coordinates building permits and collects
data on new construction.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collects data for assessment/reassessment of assigned parcels located within the
County according to State Statutes and guidelines
2. Coordinates building permits and inspects new construction to determine
percentage of completion
3. Serves as liaison with Chief County Assessment Office and other building offices
throughout the County
4. Receives parcel(s) assignments- prepares route(s) and schedules assignments
according to locations and drives to target parcel(s)
5. Contacts property owners as available, conducts assessment interview and records
pertinent information regarding internal/external characteristics of buildings and
property
6. Estimates and records assessment information when information is not accessible
of due to absence or refusal of property owner(s)
7. Prepares necessary documentation of work performed and submits for further
processing
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope
of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, three (3) years related experience and a valid
drivers license are required. Madison County, IL residency requirements must be met within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods of time. The employee is required to walk or move up to 200
feet from primary desk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel
or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision and distance vision.
