History Teacher (Full-Time) | 2026-27 School Year
Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking a creative educator for the 2026-27 school year to serve as a full-time History teacher for grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about creating engaging, imaginative learning experiences that support academic and personal growth in line with our IB Programme. This educator will also promote collaborative learning, encourage respect for diverse perspectives, and cultivate a sense of responsibility in local and global contexts.
Applicants should bring a passion for teaching History, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for working with teenage students. Ideal candidates will be well-versed in social-emotional learning (SEL) and committed to creating a safe, structured, supportive classroom environment where students can thrive. We seek an inquisitive and creative educator who leads with optimism, embraces flexibility, and values collaboration. We will present opportunities for the candidate to consider working with the High School Model United Nations team.

The successful candidate will:
- Be familiar with or willing to learn the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, particularly the Diploma Programme History framework.
- Enjoy working within a vibrant and collaborative school with students, colleagues, the administrative team, parents, and the broader school community,
- Show a genuine appreciation of high school students through a sense of humor and the ability to exercise daily flexibility,
- Have intellectual curiosity and a desire to spark a love of learning in students,
- Design and facilitate imaginative, rigorous, and empowering lesson plans that are culturally competent, student-centered, and thought-provoking,
- Have successful experience in working with culturally diverse students, teachers, families, and communities.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- At least 2 years of teaching experience;
- Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills;
- Excellent listening skills;
- Skilled at differentiating instruction;
- A belief in the intrinsic relationship between social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
