Position Summary
The YMCA is seeking a Personal Training & Fitness Manager to help lead and grow our wellness offerings while supporting day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center.
This role works closely with the Associate Director of Healthy Living to oversee the Personal Training program, support staff development, and ensure a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for members. You’ll play a key role in connecting members to services, supporting trainers, and keeping the fitness floor running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Personal Training Program
- Coordinate daily operations of the Personal Training program
- Serve as the main contact for members interested in training services
- Match members with trainers based on goals, availability, and needs
- Support trainer scheduling and ensure timely follow-up with clients
- Track participation and help identify opportunities to grow the program
- Assist with onboarding and development of personal training staff
Supervise & Support Staff
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and feedback to trainers and fitness staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and strong member service
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications
Support Fitness Center Operations
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and well-supervised Wellness Center
- Monitor equipment and communicate maintenance needs
- Support wellness programs that drive member engagement and retention
Enhance the Member Experience
- Build relationships with members and create a welcoming environment
- Promote YMCA programs and services
- Respond to questions and concerns with professionalism and follow-through
- Support initiatives that improve member satisfaction and retention
Handle Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with program coordination and scheduling
- Review and submit payroll for personal training staff
- Track participation and operational data
- Contribute to planning and improving department operations
Organization-Wide Impact

- Collaborate across departments to ensure a consistent member experience
- Participate in trainings, meetings, and organizational initiatives
- Support safety practices and risk management standards
What We’re Looking For
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Personal training certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, or similar) preferred
- Experience in health & wellness, fitness, or a related field
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships with members, staff, and community partners
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- Comfortable working with systems, data, and scheduling tools
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, exempt position
- Schedule includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and Sundays
- Flexibility required to meet program and staffing needs
- Fast-paced environment with a mix of desk work and time on the fitness floor
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, and responding to emergency situations when needed

Salary : $45,000 - $55,000
