What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIFEGUARD position at Madison Area YMCA?
The Madison Area YMCA is seeking certified lifeguards to join our aquatics team! Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas while creating a safe and fun swimming environment!
If you're an early bird, the Madison Y offers an additional $2.50/hour between the hours of 6:00am-8:00am.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Swim with proficiency and endurance; remain calm and efficient
- Demonstrate knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, lifesaving techniques, and first aid.
- Attend in-service meetings
Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of age
- Certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, First Aid & CPR
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Must be able to maintain a positive demeanor and attitude towards members and staff.
Abuse Prevention Responsibilities
All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards. Salary : $15 - $18
