Job Description:
Madison College is hiring a full time Student Success Coach. This position serves in the RISE Student Success Center through development and delivery of comprehensive student success services to increase the retention, transfer, and graduation rates of eligible participants. This position is primarily responsible for providing academic, personal and career coaching services while connecting students to additional resources. This position is responsible for triaging student needs, responding to referrals and alerts and developing workshops and events.
This position is housed in Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement (RISE) and works with Enrollment Services staff, Student Success Services staff, faculty, College administrators and our community partners to ensure the success of participants. This position reports to the Manager, RISE.
Core office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, M-F (one day per week until 6pm). Some flexibility with work hours to be determined with the supervisor. The position supports limited remote work, currently it is 1-2 remote days per week, which is subject to change based on need.

Responsibilities
1. Coaching Duties
- Provides individual and group academic and career coaching (programs of study, transfer, graduation, career exploration and financial aid.
- Assists in the development of public relations materials and promotional activities and articulates the purpose and intent of Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement (RISE) in the District and in the community.
- Works with Advisors to monitor individualized Personalized Educational Plans for participants.
- Monitors student progress and intervenes with students in academic jeopardy by helping them to make appropriate decisions and persist towards their goals. Creates academic success plans.
- Develops, leads, or coordinates workshops, educational programs and engagement initiatives for Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement.
- Participates and supports learner success strategies, programs, and courses advocating for the needs of students' cultural differences and uniqueness.
- Works collaboratively with college faculty, advisors, financial aid office, career counseling, transfer center, and other departments to coordinate services to RISE students.
- Collaborates with RISE staff and faculty to strategize ways to ensure student success when students are experiencing difficulty in selected courses.
- Monitors the RISE Student Success Coaching program, completes pre and post assessments on all students, collects and analyzes data.
2. Intake & Assessment Duties
- Provides a positive first point-of-contact experience and completes an initial assessment for students seeking access to: Advising, Counseling, Disability Resource Services, CES, RISE Programs, and the Dean of Students Office.
- Responds to in-person, telephone and written (including electronic) inquiries received from students, faculty, staff, prospective students and external audiences.
- Schedules, triages, and checks in appointments; provides referrals to other areas of the college.
- Provides assistance in helping students to understand procedures and access appropriate forms, teaches students how to navigate the MC website, use their student center to register, run advising reports, set up accounts, etc.
- Maintains Confidentiality on all matters as required by state/federal law and Madison College policy.
3. Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision and values.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of academic, personal and career coaching techniques as well as developmental advising skills and academic and career advising skills. Knowledge of Student Development theory and principles as well as students' needs and intervention strategies.
- Ability to plan, organize, promote and implement events, education workshops, in-services and programs. Ability to train and manage part-time mentors.
- Knowledge of college enrollment management and student administration tools (i.e. PeopleSoft). Knowledge of CAS standards for academic and career advising and NACADA core values.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with the ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with individuals at all levels in the organization, with students, staff, and the public.
- Ability to organize, analyze and present data related to the retention program services and outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree
- Two (2) years of work experience, directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.
