Position Type: Full-time, Year-Round
Position Summary
The K–12 Title I Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the district’s Title I, Part A programs in alignment with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements. This role ensures compliance, supports school improvement efforts, and promotes equitable educational opportunities for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Program Compliance & Monitoring
- Ensure district and school compliance with ESSA Title I and MDE requirements
- Oversee Schoolwide and Targeted Assistance programs
- Prepare for and respond to MDE monitoring, desk audits, and corrective actions
- Maintain required Title I documentation and procedures
School Improvement & Instructional Support
- Support schools in developing and implementing Michigan School Improvement Plans (SIP)
- Collaborate with curriculum, assessment, MTSS, and special services teams
- Ensure Title I services support evidence-based instruction and interventions
Budget & Fiscal Oversight
- Develop and monitor Title I budgets in compliance with supplement-not-supplant and allowability rules
- Provide guidance to schools on appropriate use of Title I funds
- Monitor expenditures and timelines to meet MDE reporting requirements
Family & Community Engagement
- Ensure compliance with ESSA Section 1116 parent and family engagement requirements
- Oversee required communications, including Parent Right-to-Know notices
- Support meaningful family engagement activities at the school level
Data, Reporting & Evaluation
- Analyze student achievement and growth data to guide Title I decisions
- Complete required reports and assurances in MDE’s NEXSYS system
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements
Professional Learning & Collaboration
- Provide training and technical assistance on Michigan Title I requirements
- Communicate updates related to MDE guidance and compliance
- Coordinate services with EL, Special Education, Homeless, Early Childhood, and At-Risk programs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Knowledge of ESSA Title I and Michigan Title I requirements
- Experience in K–12 education
- Strong organizational, communication, and data analysis skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field
- Experience with Michigan federal grants
- Experience with MDE monitoring, SIP development, or MTSS
Work Environment
- District office and school-based settings
- Occasional evening meetings and in-district travel
