Role Description
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse is a full-time, on-site role located at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. The NICU Nurse will provide specialized, compassionate care to critically ill newborns, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, managing medical equipment, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities also include educating and supporting families, conducting assessments, developing care plans, and adhering to the highest standards of safety and patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical skills in neonatal care, including monitoring, administering medications, and managing equipment
- Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning, and evidence-based medical interventions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for educating families and collaborating with healthcare teams
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Relevant certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BSN, MSN, or specialized neonatal training preferred
- One year of previous experience in a Level II or III NICU required
Compensation Range
$113,283.00 - $139,196.00 per year
This compensation rage is based on the FY2026 D202 GS0610 Special Salary Pay Table and does not include bonuses available to qualified candidates.
