CNC Milling Machinist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist & Programmer to join our Milling/DMF team. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who can independently program, set up, and operate CNC milling equipment while maintaining exceptional accuracy and efficiency. You will work from both engineering drawings and digital files, using CAD/CAM tools to support production needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and digital models.
• Program CNC milling machines at the machine or using CAD/CAM software.
• Upload and download CNC programs between the network and CNC machines.
• Set up, indicate, and secure parts accurately before machining.
• Machine components to tight tolerances, ensuring proper fits and finishes.
• Select and adjust tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters for optimal performance.
• Sharpen tools using cutter grinders and maintain tooling as needed.
• Modify existing programs and understand how changes impact subsequent operations.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions within 0.005 mm / 0.0002 in.
• Operate multiple machines during long program cycles to maximize productivity.
• Prepare upcoming jobs while current jobs are running to reduce setup time.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and accurate production.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Required:
• 2-4 years of experience in CNC milling and programming.
• Strong understanding of machining concepts, tooling behavior, and part interactions.
• Ability to read, write, and edit G & M code.
• Experience with common CNC controls.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for programming from drawings or digital files.
• Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools and inspection methods.
• Ability to perform basic trigonometry for machining calculations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred:
• Formal machining or technical training.
• Experience with advanced CAD/CAM platforms.
