MADERA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CERTIFICATED JOB DESCRIPTION INTERVENTION SPECIALIST Overall Responsibilities Support the educational program by providing information and expertise to an assigned group of students in a specialized area. Assist the administration in managing and administering school intervention programs. Specific Responsibilities 1. Identify students failing to meet proficiency in core curricular classes. 2. Assign and maintain intervention rosters and schedules. 3. Collaborate with instructional staff to monitor student performance. 4. Disaggregate and present data in a cycle of inquiry to improve instructional strategies. 5. Participate in school-wide training, decision-making, and related activities. 6. Assign students to appropriate intervention offerings to meet their needs and goals. 7. Utilize school-wide student behavior data to identify, establish and conduct behavioral interventions as required. 8. Maintain accurate records of student, parent and staff contacts. 9. Meet with assigned departments or designated organizational units. 10. Conduct and facilitate necessary stakeholder meetings. 11. Plan, organize, and or assist with common formative assessment testing programs. 12. Assist with the orientation program for feeder schools. 13. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Specific knowledge of: 1. State, district and site student assessment and testing. 2. RtI (Response to Intervention) model and or pyramids of intervention 3. Data collection and interpretation programs. (ie. EduSoft) 4. School and district procedures and policies related to students learning, behavior and welfare. 5. Laws pertaining to minors. 6. Vocational and college requirements. 7. State, district and school curriculum. 8. Standardize testing procedures and interpretation. 9. Student information systems. Remain calm while resolving conflicts with diverse participants under stress. 3. Provide fair, equitable treatment of all students, parents, and staff. 4. Contribute to the successful fulfillment of the District Mission. 5. Work cooperatively with others. 6. Conduct responsibilities of the position based on information and instructions provided in English. 7. Utilize conflict resolution mythology. 8. Learn and appropriately apply district policies and procedures and other regulations related to the position. 9. Maintain appropriate confidentiality about students, school, staff, and district activities. 10. Manage time and other resources to meet the needs of all assigned students. 11. Use computer and data entry terminals. 12. Learn and apply current technology to assigned duties. Education: 1. Pupil Personnel Service Credential or Valid Teaching Credential 2. Master’s degree Experience: 1. Three years classroom teaching or counseling (professional or internship). 2. Secondary Experience preferred 3. Alternative Education preferred License: 1. Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential or Valid Teaching Credential 2. Mobility sufficient to move about, stand, and/or sit for extended periods, and access all locations in the work environment. 2. Manual skill to appropriately control and manipulate objects, tools, materials, and equipment used on the job, including a telephone and a computer. 3. Flexibility and strength to reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop. 4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone. 5. Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations and on the telephone. 6. Ability to see, read, and distinguishes colors, with or without vision aids: computer screen, equipment used in the work environment, instructional materials, training materials, directions, rules, policies, calendars, agendas, manual, and other printed matter. 7. Physical strength and agility to push, pull, squat, twist, turn, and lift and carry bulky objects of up to 25 pounds with or without assistance. 8. Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in a safe, accurate, neat, and timely fashion and to make and evaluate the results of judgments and decisions. 9. Ability to drive a car. 10. High tolerance for continuing stressful situations.
