Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Aide to join our healthcare facility's cleaning and sanitation team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and experience in janitorial or custodial services within hospital or healthcare settings. The Environmental Services Aide will be responsible for performing cleaning tasks that meet strict sanitation protocols and regulatory requirements, ensuring a hygienic environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas in accordance with hospital standards.
- Utilize proper cleaning techniques for various surfaces, including floors, walls, windows, and medical equipment.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and safety procedures to prevent contamination and ensure workplace safety.
- Handle waste disposal safely and efficiently, including biomedical waste when necessary.
- Maintain cleaning supplies inventory and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and steam cleaners safely and effectively.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and sanitation procedures to prevent the spread of infections.
- Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans as scheduled or directed by supervisory staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years of experience as a housekeeper in lieu of education will be considered.
- Verbal ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff required.
- Must be able to write and understand written instructions.
Additional Qualifications/ skills
- One (1) year of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Previous healthcare housekeeping experience preferred.
- Ability to project a professional image.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
- Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
