What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook/Prep Cook/Dishwasher position at Madeline Island Pub/The Inn on Madeline Island?
This is a Seasonal position that will run from May 2026-October 2026. No housing available.
As a line cook you would be responsible to prepare and deliver dinner service, providing a high standard of fresh food in a busy resort restaurant. You will also be responsible to prepare for dinner service to ensure that all stations are stocked and ready for dinner service.
As a dishwasher, you will be cleaning and sanitizing dishes, putting away dishes and helping keep the dish area clean. You will open and close the dish area, sweep, mop and clean all surfaces.
Also be able to undertake a varied list of food preparation for the kitchen on a daily basis and take full responsibility and accountability for the preparation of dinner service. Additionally, ensuring that all policies and procedures laid down by management are implemented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Managing prep for dinner service while helping with food service
- Cooking and managing food service.
- Washing all dishes from prep/lunch service
- Prepare all dishes and ingredients needed for dinner service.
- Prepare homemade potatoes, soup of the day and daily specials.
- Have skills in time management
- Ensure the kitchen is always kept clean and hygienic.
- Ensure all stocks are kept under optimum condition, labeled and rotated.
- Ensure all orders are always freshly prepared and on time.
- Ensure all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and to the correct quantity.
- Ensure any anticipated issues are communicated promptly to the Head Chef.
- Monitor and ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are always of the highest quality.
- Personal grooming and appearance standards are met regarding cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene.
- Assist with producing menus and new dishes.
- Able to prepare different type of breakfast egg preparations and methods.
- Have a good knowledge on health & safety, hygiene, equal opportunities, HACCP and any other legislation.
- Able to handle pressure calmly and professionally.
- Hours of work can range from 11am-7pm or 2pm-10pm but may differ depending on schedule of operating hours.
