Madelia Health is seeking a dependable and compassionate Laboratory Assistant to support our laboratory team through phlebotomy, specimen processing, waived testing, and essential clerical duties. This role is critical to ensuring accurate testing, timely results, and a positive patient experience.

Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, waived testing, and assists with laboratory clerical functions. This role works closely with laboratory staff and clinical teams to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered diagnostic services.

What You’ll Do

• Verify patient identification to ensure accurate specimen collection
• Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture and swabs
• Process specimens accurately and efficiently
• Perform waived testing as appropriate
• Stock, rotate, and monitor laboratory supplies and inventory
• Participate in proficiency testing when required
• Assist with clerical and administrative laboratory duties
• Participate in department meetings, projects, and quality improvement efforts
• Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
• Complete other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Phlebotomy certification
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with patients and caregivers

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work as a collaborative member of a healthcare team
• Basic computer skills to navigate electronic health systems
• Successful completion of required background checks
