Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Wage: $23.34-$32.52
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an approved educational program for Licensed Practical Nurses
- Must possess a current license to practice in the state of Minnesota.
- Experience preferred, not required.
- Required Certifications: CPR and ACLS
- Trauma Training: Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) or audit CALS within 6 months of hire.
- Background study and pre-employment drug testing also required.
Responsibilities:
- Physical Considerations:
- Standing: to change IV bags, set up equipment, deliver patient care/treatment.
- Walking: to walk patients, respond to emergencies, answer phones and alarms, gather equipment and move about the unit.
- Squatting and kneeling: to plug equipment in, provide CPR, empty drainage bags, assist patients from the floor, and transfer patients from chairs to bed.
- Pushing/Pulling: to move patients in wheelchairs, crash carts, room furniture, gurneys, reposition patients, and open drawers.
- Lifting: to assist in transferring adult patients and, move equipment into rooms.
- Manual/finger dexterity: to administer medications, calibrate equipment, insert tubes, set up telemetry and IV pumps, utilized keyboard functions and document.
- Vision: To read fine print, labels, documentation, test results.
- Reaching: overhead reach to open cabinets, obtain wall suction, obtain items from top shelf.
- Hearing: to auscultate (BP, heart sounds, lung sounds, bowel sounds), to answer phones, alarms, distress signals and overhead pages.
- Sitting: to chart, counsel
- Speaking: to communicate effectively with others.
- Psychological Considerations:
- Able to work under stressful situations and respond to emergencies competently.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Must be flexible, have problem-solving skills, prioritize, and demonstrate healthy coping mechanisms.
- Environmental Considerations:
- Potential contamination/exposure to blood borne pathogens, body substances, biohazardous materials, and infectious diseases.
- Able to work in temperature-controlled hospital environment: occasional exposure to a variety of auditory and olfactory stimuli.
Schedule Details:
Shifts include 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm on a fixed and rotating schedule. Available schedule options will be discussed during the interview.
Weekend Schedule:
Variety of shifts including every weekend or every third weekend and holiday rotation.
