Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry
- Ensure all food handling and safety protocols are strictly followed to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Assist in menu planning by creating innovative sushi options that align with customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
- Maintain proper knife skills for slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients efficiently and safely
- Manage food preparation stations, ensuring ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and organized for optimal workflow
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service hours
- Uphold high standards of food presentation, ensuring each dish is visually appealing and consistent in quality
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or fine dining setting
- Strong background in food industry practices including food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures
- Extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi techniques, and traditional culinary methods
- Experience with menu planning, catering, and serving in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in knife skills, food preparation, and cooking techniques specific to sushi making
- Prior dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
