Position Overview
The Player Development Intern will assist our trainers by supporting day-to-day training sessions, helping maintain the energy, structure, and professionalism expected in an elite basketball training environment. This role offers hands-on experience assisting coaches and working directly with athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring consistent energy, focus, and professionalism to every training session while contributing to a positive and high-performance environment
- Actively participate in training sessions by assisting with drills, passing, rebounding, and playing defense as needed to help keep sessions running efficiently
- Work closely with trainers to support the flow and execution of training sessions while learning coaching techniques, communication styles, and session management
- Observe experienced trainers and learn how they structure sessions, communicate with athletes, provide instruction, and create an effective training environment
- Develop an understanding of when to actively support a session and when to step back and observe, demonstrating professionalism and respect for the trainer's leadership
- Maintain strong awareness and professionalism during instruction by avoiding side conversations, staying engaged, and allowing trainers to lead without interruption
- Take initiative to learn, ask thoughtful questions at appropriate times, and seek feedback from trainers to continue developing basketball and professional skills
- As experience and confidence grow, take on additional responsibilities and opportunities to contribute to training sessions based on demonstrated performance and initiative
Qualifications & Expectations
- Basketball Background: Previous basketball-related experience is required, whether through playing, coaching, training, or a similar setting.
- Attitude & Energy: Bring high energy, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Be coachable, engaged, and fully present throughout each session.
- Professional Attire: Basketball shoes and appropriate athletic apparel are required for all training sessions. Non-athletic footwear, including Crocs, is not permitted.
- Professionalism & Focus: Phones should remain put away during sessions. Maintain full attention on the athletes and trainer, and demonstrate professionalism and respect throughout each session.
