Job Description
Enters codes to create production database. Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance (such as distribution of records and amount of available memory). Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to database management system. Reviews and corrects programs. Answers user questions. Confers with coworkers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database. Modifies database programs to increase processing performance (performance tuning).
Workers typically specialize in one or more types of database management systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems
- Ensuring conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with structural parameters within the database environment
- Evaluating users' requests for new data elements and systems, incorporating them into the existing shared data environment
- Providing technical assistance
- Coordinating the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy
- Loading databases and reorganizing as needed
- Performing data modeling and prototyping (logical and physical)
- Designing relational database models and creating physical data models from logical data models
- Performing security recovery procedures
- Determining and implementing database search strategies and storage requirements
- Maintaining data dictionary (ensuring uniformity of definitions and setting standards)
- Monitoring database performance and recommending efficiency improvements
- Creating test database environment for applications section (libraries and procedures)
- Executing procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware/software failures
- Assisting with database security standards and disaster recovery monitoring
- Assisting with database software installation and database analysis/design/implementation

- Assisting in selection of database management software
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work
- Knowledge of computer programming, systems design, operations, procedures, project control, cost estimating, programming languages, data processing flowcharting, database structures/theories, and current database technologies
- Working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies
- Ensuring user interfaces for database administration and data input/viewing/output (via reports) comply with accessibility standards
- Providing support to users when EIR Accessibility issues arise

We are seeking a Senior Operational Oracle DBA to ensure the stability, patching, and scalability of critical database environments that support multiple concurrent ERP implementations and upgrades.
The primary responsibility is to:
- Design and execute database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai
- Maintain multiple environments that support ETL activities
Candidates must have hands-on experience with:
- Grid Infrastructure setup and maintenance
- Security vulnerability compliance
- Performance tuning
- This position requires working outside standard business hours, depending on project activities.
- This is a remote position; if it should become hybrid, in-office schedule will be negotiated.
Minimum Requirements (Required)
Minimum 8 Years of Experience Required in All Areas Below
Candidates must meet or exceed all stated requirements.
- Infrastructure management with Oracle 19c version or higher.
- Grid infrastructure (ASM, Clusterware).
- High-availability (GoldenGate, Active Data Guard).
- Advanced scripting (Linux, SQL).
