Madden’s is currently seeking the position of Director of Human Resources.

As the Director of HR you will be an integral part of the company by assisting the department heads and employees with the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. This highly organized position thinks systematically, responds quickly and accurately, and manages deadlines in a dynamic environment.   • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures company’s compliance.
  • Maintains responsibility for company compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in company personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.
  • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of company wage and salary program, while developing and implementing comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective for the company.
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the COO, on personnel matters.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the company.
  • Develops and maintains a human resource system that meets company personnel information needs.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Establishes and implements HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company’s mission and strategic vision.
  • Develops HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.
  • Functions as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of the company regarding key organizational and management issues.
  • Works with the company’s executive management to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.
  • Develops comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals.
  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits globally.
  • Administers benefit programs, including conducting analysis and serving as primary contact with providers (including group health and dental), workers' compensation, and any other plan maintained by the company.
  • Oversees bi-weekly payroll processing and is responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records and affectively communicating all payroll items to employees and companywide.
  • Responsible for internal and external audits including but not limited to payroll, benefits, workers compensation and governmental compliance.
  • Manages the company’s safety efforts, including serving on the safety committee.
  • Primary contact for any Guest/Employee injuries or occurrences that result in legal disputes or insurance claims.
  • Manages daily administration, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, affirmative action/EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the company.
  • Directly oversees the company foreign worker visa program (H-2B/J1), including working with immigration attorneys, recruiting seasonal visa holders, developing relationships with opposite season resorts/clubs, and maintaining compliance in all immigration areas that the company utilizes.
  • Oversees the companies on-site housing program.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Attends regular staff meetings.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Overall Human Resources knowledge and capacity including HR principles, employment law & regulations.
  • Excellent with time management and communication.
  • High level of critical evaluation, strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Ability to excel in leadership and decision making.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Detail-Oriented and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Ensures confidentiality of all HR & Payroll records


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year human resources experience
  • Administrative knowledge and experience in human resource tasks including but not limited to record keeping, job descriptions, job postings, phone screen interviews, offer letters, new hire orientation, recognition programs, employee communications and event support
  • Proficient in HR information systems


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is directly responsible for leading managers and indirectly responsible for employees. This position has one full time HR direct report.


Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment.


Physical Demands:

Primarily stationary such as sitting for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone.


Expected Hours of Work:

8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Some nights/weekends expected.


Travel:

Less than 10% travel required.
