Under the supervision of the physician or nurse practitioner, the Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and supportive duties to the practitioner within a well-defined scope of practice. They assist with in-office procedures, the implementation of the patient’s plan of care, and the provision of patient/family education. They may occasionally assist the office team with greeting patients, answering the phone and filing, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. One year of medical office experience preferred.
2. Medical Assistant Certification preferred; if not certified, must be willing to train with the intent of becoming certified.
3. Injection Certification preferred; if not certified, must be willing to obtain injection and venipuncture certificates.
4. Current BLS certification.
5. Good verbal communication skills to receive and give information in person and by phone.
6. Maturity and emotional stability; ability to handle fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing conditions, emotional demands, demands of maintaining effective working relations with peers, managers, patients and others.
Wages are based on prior, related experience.
