In this role, you will:

Own: Take end-to-end ownership of payments product development, from payment flow conceptualization to merchant onboarding and transaction processing optimization.

Define: Clearly define and articulate payments product strategies, roadmaps, and goals that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Develop: Collaborate with engineering, design, compliance, and business teams to develop and prioritize payment features, integrations, and security enhancements.

Deliver: Ensure successful delivery of high-quality payments products that meet merchant needs, reduce transaction friction, and maximize conversion rates.

Communicate: Effectively communicate payments product plans, regulatory updates, and technical decisions to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Payments Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and execute comprehensive payments product roadmap including payment methods, checkout optimization, fraud prevention, and merchant tools
  • Merchant Experience: Design and optimize payment flows for restaurant and retail merchants, focusing on speed, reliability, and ease of use
  • Integration Management: Oversee payment processor integrations, gateway partnerships, and third-party payment service implementations
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all payment products meet PCI DSS, PII protection standards, NACHA and relevant financial regulations
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze payment performance metrics, conversion rates, decline rates, and merchant feedback to drive product improvements
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Lead payments initiatives across engineering, design, sales, and customer success teams

 

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of product management experience with at least 2 years specifically in payments, fintech, or financial services
  • Deep understanding of payment ecosystems including processors, gateways, card networks, and alternative payment methods
  • Technical proficiency with payment APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns
  • Regulatory knowledge of PCI compliance, NACHA, anti-money laundering (AML), and relevant financial regulations
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in payment metrics, A/B testing, and data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex payment concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies in fast-paced development environments
  • Understanding of Payment Facilitation

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in restaurant/retail technology or vertical-specific payment solutions
  • Knowledge of emerging payment trends such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), digital wallets, cryptocurrency, or embedded finance
  • Previous experience with payment processors like Stripe, Square, Adyen, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of fraud detection, risk management, and chargeback prevention strategies
  • Familiarity with payment industry standards and card network rules (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
