The Network Administrator is responsible for aspects of systems administration related to the company’s domestic and international network. This individual holds primary responsibility for network operating systems, IP telephony, cameras, and ancillary hardware and software used in the installation, management and tuning of those environments. The role implements, configures, coordinates, controls, maintains, troubleshoots, secures, monitors, and reacts to usage/capacity/performance monitoring and develops specialized system procedures to accomplish this work. The role performs basic administration functions, including maintaining accurate asset information, monitoring and managing system resources, resolving performance issues, maintaining system documentation, troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems and network related activities. The role also serves as the primary interface to any vendors engaged to provide these services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, administer, and document the company’s network environment, including LAN, WAN, wireless, UCaaS, Web, cloud, VPN, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems and intrusion detection systems (IPS/IDS), URL filtering, and other network services.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with vendors for projects to install new equipment, perform periodic updates/patches, design new configurations, perform end-of-life refresh and other projects.
  • Proactively analyze system performance data, error logs, system logs, bandwidth utilization reports, and other diagnostic and fault isolation tools to identify issues/potential issues and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Identify gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate on user testing such as phishing, penetration tests, vulnerability scans and third-party capability assessments and respond to findings.
  • Maintain expertise in the following technologies:
    • Microsoft operating systems
    • Azure Networking
    • HPE Aruba networking
    • Fortinet router technologies and tools
    • WAN and Internet connection technologies
    • Cabling technologies
    • Wireless hardware, software and security technologies
    • Remote access technologies, including CASB and Microsoft GSA
    • UCaaS – Microsoft Teams Voice, VOIP, voicemail, and other call distribution technologies
    • Information Security tools such as IPS/IDS, URL filtering, firewalls, DMZ configurations, etc
    • Network performance measurement tools
  • Install and maintain OS images for network-based devices, routers, switches, firewalls, and other infrastructure control devices.
  • Primary responsibility for improving network ports, cabling and closets at over 35 US sites. Some travel is required.
  • Manage Microsoft Teams Voice and UCaaS telephony services, voicemail and call distribution technologies.
  • Provide primary on-site, remote, and off-hours technical support on a rotation basis.
  • Resolve incident resolutions and request fulfillment procedures to train the help desk to resolve in the future.
  • Provide secondary support for other IT infrastructure activities.
  • Provide secondary administration and support for security and anti-virus/anti-malware hardware and software throughout the network.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • Four or more years of direct experience as a Network Administrator.
  • Expert technical skills in a network environment.
